Creation of models and drawings from physical parts

Converting physical parts into digital 3D models is also called reverse engineering. Subsequently, it is possible to create technical drawings from 3D models. How does it work and what does this process involve?

How does converting physical parts to 3D models and drawings work with us?

To create an accurate digital copy, we use 3D scanners and manually adjust models based on measurements. In this way, we can convert a surface 3D scan to a precise volume reconstruction, suitable for creating technical drawings.

The advantage is the relatively high speed of the whole process. For parts that are simpler in shape, you can expressly process models or even drawings within 24 hours. For parts that are more complex in shape and size, the process can take several business days.

We can modify or optimize these models as required. In practice, we encounter cases where the original component is undersized in certain places, and we can easily amplify this when we have a 3D model. This means that the new part will perform better than the original.

In what formats can we deliver 3D models and drawings?

We work primarily in the CAD system Autodesk Fusion 360, which allows the export of models to  interchange formats such as STEP / STP or IGES / IGS.

We can also export models to formats such as OBJ and STL.

We can deliver drawings in DWG, DXF, or PDF format.

In what formats can we deliver 3D models and drawings?

We work primarily in the CAD system Autodesk Fusion 360, which allows the export of models to universal volume formats such as STEP / STP or IGES / IGS.

We can also export models to area formats such as OBJ and STL.

We can deliver drawings in DWG, DXF or PDF format.
